Tile stickers for the kitchen: which version, which style, how many?

Tile stickers transform a kitchen without having to remove a single tile. However, there are major differences between individual tile stickers, sticker sets, and tile film on a roll – in terms of effort, appearance, and price. Here, you'll learn which option suits your kitchen, which style goes with which decor, and how much material you need.

In a nutshell

  • Individual tile stickers are worth it for accents – for an entire backsplash, they mean many edges and a lot of sticking.
  • Tile film on a roll (58 × 300 cm) covers many tiles at once, and the pattern flows seamlessly.
  • Style: light and simple for cottage style, ornaments for Mediterranean, graphics and color for modern kitchens.
  • Quantity: Width of the backsplash ÷ 0.58 m = number of strips. One roll provides five strips at a height of 60 cm.
  • Test first: Every design is available as an A4 sample for €1.

Tile stickers, adhesive tiles, or tile film – what's the difference?

Three different products end up on the market under similar names. It is worth taking a closer look for the kitchen:

Individual tile stickers Adhesive tiles (3D/panels) Tile film on a roll
Format mostly sets with individual squares the size of a tile individual plates or panels strip 58 × 300 cm (approx. 1.74 m²)
Effort for a backsplash high: every tile individually medium low: one strip covers many tiles
Appearance each tile customizable individually own surface, covers old joints continuous pattern, few butt edges
Good for individual accents, borders those who want to cover old tiles completely entire backsplashes and wall panels

For accents, you can also simply cut tile film to the size of your tiles – this way, you get both from one roll.

Which style suits your kitchen?

Cottage-style kitchen: bright, calm, with character

Bright, understated tiles suit colored fronts like sage green or dove blue. The Geometric Modern tile film shows square tiles in off-white to delicate beige with fine cracks and slight color variations – a look like old kitchen tiles with a natural patina. Currently €29.99 instead of €39.99 per roll.

Mediterranean kitchen: ornaments and vintage charm

Wood, terracotta, and white walls can handle a strong pattern. The Oriental tile film features hand-painted ornaments in deep blue-grey on a white background, with gold-colored grout lines and a light vintage patina. €39.99 per roll.

Modern kitchen: color and graphics as an eye-catcher

Handleless, white fronts can quickly appear cold. A graphic pattern sets an accent here: The Indigo Zigzag tile film combines a three-dimensional-looking chevron pattern with indigo, lavender, and rose tones (image at the very top). €39.99 per roll.

How much tile film do I need for the kitchen?

Do not calculate by square meters, but by strips – this ensures the pattern alignment fits:

  1. Measure the width of the backsplash.
  2. Divide by 0.58 m (strip width) and round up = number of strips.
  3. Measure the height. From a 3 m roll, you get five strips at a height of 60 cm, and six at a height of 50 cm.

Example: Backsplash 3.00 m wide, 60 cm high → 3.00 ÷ 0.58 = 5.2 → 6 strips. One roll is enough for 5 strips, so you need 2 rolls.

Plan for a little extra when using patterns so that the strips connect cleanly.

What to look for when buying

  • Material: Our tile films are PVC-free (170 g/m²) and printed with GREENGUARD Gold certified inks. Made in Germany.
  • Removability: The film can be removed without leaving any residue – important for rental apartments.
  • Surface: It adheres to smooth surfaces such as ceramic tiles, glass, and smooth plastic surfaces.
  • For walls only: Floor tiles are not suitable – shoes, chairs, and furniture rollers put stress on any adhesive film.
  • Stove: Keep at least 20 cm away from the hot zone of the cooktop.

We show you how to apply the film step-by-step in the guide Over-sticking the kitchen backsplash.

Care in everyday kitchen life

Wiping with a damp cloth is sufficient. Please avoid abrasive cleaners and steam cleaners. Wait 24 hours after application before cleaning with a damp cloth for the first time.

Feel first, then stick: Order your favorites as A4 samples for €1 and hold them directly against your kitchen tiles.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which is better: tile stickers or tile film?

Stickers are practical for individual accents. For an entire backsplash, tile film on a roll is faster: one strip covers many tiles at once, the pattern flows, and there are significantly fewer edges.

Can tile film be removed?

Yes. Our tile film can be removed without leaving any residue; the tiles underneath remain unchanged.

Which is better: sticking or painting tiles?

Tile paint is practically impossible to reverse, and the grout lines remain visible. Tile film brings a finished pattern and is removable – this makes it particularly interesting for rental apartments.

Can I also put tile stickers on floor tiles?

No. Our tile films are made for wall tiles. On the floor, shoes, chairs, and furniture rollers stress any adhesive film.

How many rolls do I need for my backsplash?

Width ÷ 0.58 m, rounded up, gives the number of strips. At 60 cm height, one roll yields five strips. Example: 3 m width → 6 strips → 2 rolls.
